Volunteers help Crisis Ministries provide the basic human needs of food, shelter and hope to our clients. Veteran Services

If you are (or know of) a Veteran in need of housing assistance, contact our Supportive Services Assistance Line at (843) 737-8389.   

Basic eligibility criteria include:

You or your spouse are a Veteran

You have a very low income that does not exceed 50% of Area Median Income
($22,050 for an individual, $31,500 for a family of four)

Your housing status is in one of the following three categories:

  1. You reside in housing and lack the ability to pay all of your bills
  2. You are currently homeless 
  3. You have left permanent housing within the past 90 days to seek other housing that better meets that family’s needs or preferences.

 Services from Crisis Ministries may include:

  • Employment and Education Services
  • Legal Services (civil cases only)
  • Fiduciary and Representative Payee Services
  • Other Services may include
    • Rental Deposits
    • Utility Deposits
    • Time and Amount Limited Rental Assistance (no more than 3 months and no more than 70% towards rent)

 Priority will be given to the following:

  • Veterans and their families who are two weeks from eviction and can present the eviction notice from the landlord or court
  • Veterans residing in a shelter or place not meant for habitation
  • Veterans with income below 30% AMI
    ($13,250 for an individual, $18,900 for a family of four)
  • Families with dependent children where head of  household or the spouse is a Veteran
  • Veterans with a recent experience of traumatic event
